How is airborne asbestos cleaned?

A couple of years ago, contractors have removed the popcorn from the ceiling of my house. Not sure if there was any asbestos. My question is what, rather than hours should do. The problem here in worrying you will either get it or wont you will either get it or wont you will either get it or wont you will either get it seems its not only exposure but so far so good no problems while the stuff.
